The South Holston Tailwater is by probably the best brown trout fishery in the state. We have about 15 miles of river from the base of the South Holston dam down stream to Boone Lake in Bluff City. The river constantly produces fish over 20 inches in length. Sulphurs, blue wing olives, & midges are the mainstay on the river as far as the bugs are concerned. Anglers can expect to find rising fish somewhere on any given day on the water. The trick is figuring out where & when it will happen. Then its just a matter of fly selection.

We annually host a couple of trips each year on the South Holston River. These trips are booked well in advance with a limited number of spot on each trip. We usually will have two guides per four anglers, that way if we have constant high water conditions we are able to float fish on these days. All trips are priced to include lodging, fishing, & three meals a day. All you have to do is show up and be ready to fish. If you have any questions about any of our South Holston River trips please feel free to give us a call and let us help you plan your next outing.
